I began the object paintings while studying Fine Art and Visual Culture at Northumbria University. I returned to this style in New Zealand to create paintings which functioned as mnemonic devices, permanently fixing moments of my time spent there. I’m interested in the way the meaning and function of an object is given a new status through the act of painting.
