Having worked as a graphic designer and illustrator since 1987, I trained in Design and Technology teaching, taking my first post at Newcastle’s Gosforth High School, in 1993. A gradual move into the Art Department coincided with part time study of Fine Art and Visual Culture at Northumbria University.

After teaching Art at Gosforth for over seven years, I moved to New Zealand in January 2002. Initially taking a temporary position as Art Specialist for Avondale Intermediate (Auckland), A teaching post at Lynfield College (Auckland) progressed to an ‘Artist in Residence’ post at the College which gave me more opportunity to pursue my painting whilst still teaching part time.

Since returning to the UK in 2004, I have continued to focus on my own work, combining painting with my role as a mother to two young children.
